Jim O'Neal Pastoral Ministries Jim graduated from A&M in January 1966 with a business degree and went into the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant of Infantry. He served as a platoon leader in 1966-67 in the Mekong Delta and then was an instructor at the Infantry School. He met his wife Carolyn there, on a blind date in late October 1968. They married on February 1, 1969. He went back to Viet Nam in May 1969 for a second tour as an infantry company commander. Jim and Carolyn both feel the year-long separation really “sealed” their marriage. They served in Georgia, Texas and Germany before leaving the Army for Bible College and Seminary. Jim graduated from Florida Baptist College in 1979 with a degree in Christian Ministries. Jim was recalled to active duty in 1985. He served in various senior staff jobs, graduated from the Army Command and Staff College and retired as a Colonel in 1995. Since retiring, Jim has served Alamo City as the headmaster of the school, as the interim Youth, Children and Preschool, senior adult Pastor, He has supervised the Teaching Ministries, Men’s ministry and Missions. Helping and encouraging men is his ministry passion. After Jesus, Barnabas is his Bible hero. He loves his God, his wife Carolyn, daughters Cathy and Patty and his five grandchildren Caitlin, Kyle, Caleb, Camden and Connor. He also loves getting outdoors, bass fishing and reading. |
